Own a Big Mecha (OBM)
Effect: Alteration
Action: Standard
Range: Personal
Duration: Sustained
Cost: 2 points per rank for low power, 3 for high power
You can create a Mecha for yourself. Every rank in Own a Big Mecha gives the character 15 points (20 points for high power) to build an alternate version of the character with, while inside the Mech. Any trait you wish to use while in the Mech must be purchesed with the points you receive from OBM. The Wide array extra can not be applied to OBM. Getting into your Mecha requires a full-round action.
Example: Campaign Level 10 with 150pp for each character. One player takes OBM at rank 10, giving him 150pp (200pp for high power) to build the "Mecha" version of himself, without the OBM power.
Campaign levels for Mechs are generally 5 levels above those for a character.
Damage and effects taken while in a Mecha apply only to the Mecha, unless targeted toward the pilot. Since Mecha are generally Constructs, and can not make Recovery checks, they need to be repaired.
A mecha is a vehicle or construct of some sort such as a giant robot, spaceship, tank, submarine, sports car, motorcycle, helicopter, powered armour suit. Piloting is usually done from a cockpit inside the mecha, though lower-technology or "retro" mecha may be operated from the outside or via remote control. The mecha's aptitude for combat is determined by the pilot character's ability.
Mecha often appear in modern or future settings, but they can also be pre-modern such as sailing ships or science-fantasy gear like magical clockwork golems. "Mecha" that characters do not ride, pilot, occupy, or wear, such as robot companions, are best acquired through the Flunkies or Servant Attributes.
