Tag Team Rules Tag Team Magic is played with four players with two teams of two players. Each player starts with 20 life and should have their own deck. This variant starts with one player on a team going first and then play continues going clockwise around the table. The person who goes first must be seated on the left of the team. Each team decides who will be “in” first. The player that goes “in” first on either team are the only players that may deal damage to each other, but that player's partner may draw, play lands, counter spells, cast creatures, sorceries, and enchantments as usual, as long as none of these actions deal damage to any player or creature. At the beginning of any phase, a current active player may "tag" his partner and that partner becomes the active player. Then he is the one that the current opposing active player deals damage to. The "out" player may cast any instant, enchantment, sorcery, or creature card as long as it doesn't deal damage to a player or any creatures. For instance, it would be all right for a counter-phoenix deck to use its counters and even to bring out its Shard Phoenix, but NOT all right for it to use its shocks or activate its Shard Phoenix. And yes, land destruction is aloud since it isn't technically dealing damage. But, the "out" player may NOT cast Manabarbs, since it deals damage indirectly. However, if an active player casts Manabarbs and then tags out, Manabarbs remains in play. For example on dealing damage, Flametongue Kavu is illegal to be cast by the "out" players, since it has a come into play ability that deals damage. Deck

“Paris” Mulligan is used for this variant. Before
each game begins, a player may, for any reason, reshuffle and redraw his
hand, drawing one less card. This may be repeated as often as the player
wishes, until he has no cards left in his hand. After the participant, who
plays first, mulligans as often as he likes, the decision of whether to
mulligan passes to the other player. Once a player passes the opportunity
to mulligan, that player may not change his mind. History This variant was submitted by Retaliation and his friends Henry, Rory, and Jon. |
