Star Rules To play this variant you must have 5 players. First,
assign each player one color; the five colors are white, blue, black, red,
and green. Next, figure out which is your enemy colors. If you’re playing white, your enemy colors are red and black; for blue, it’s green and red; for black, white and green; for red, blue and white; and for green, black and blue. Your opponents are the players using your enemy color in their decks. For example, if you’re playing blue, your enemy color is green and red, so the green and red players are your opponents. The two players who aren’t your opponents (in this case, white and black) aren’t really your allies either; they’re neutral. You’re competing against them, but you don’t get any benefit from hurting them. Once you’ve all figured out who your opponents are, sit in a circle like this:
Sit so that your neutral players are the two players next to you and your opponents are the two players across from you. In Star, you attack only your opponents with your creatures, but spell range is unlimited. You win if you’re the first to knock out both of your opponents. For example, if you’re playing green, you win if both the black and blue players are knocked out. Ties are possible if no one wins when the first two players are knocked out. For instance, if both the white and black players are out and the blue player is eliminated, the green and red players both win at the same time, making the game a tie. Opposing

Deck
Construction Then
each of you should build a 60-card minimum deck using only cards that are of
your assigned color plus lands. You can use artifacts but not any cards of
any other color in your deck. Please keep in mind that people may be
playing anti-color cards in there deck. So try to have ways to deal with
them. Sideboard There
is no Sideboard for this game variant. Banned
& Restricted List Banned When
playing this variant it is usually decided what Type you will be playing.
So if playing Type 1, Type 1.5, Type 2, or Extended Star, then follow that
format’s Banned and Restricted List in addition to this list. Anti-color
are allowed but frowned upon. The black player does not have much fun when
the white player drops Light
of Day down. Mulligan Rules Standard
“Paris” Mulligan is used for this variant. Before
each game begins, a player may, for any reason, reshuffle and redraw his
hand, drawing one less card. This may be repeated as often as the player
wishes, until he has no cards left in his hand. After the participant, who
plays first, mulligans as often as he likes, the decision of whether to
mulligan passes to the other player. Once a player passes the opportunity
to mulligan, that player may not change his mind. |
