Like so many villages in Crete a lot of them have the same name. Besides at least 5 Agia Pelagia's, there are also two villages called Vrises (which are spelled in 3 ways: Vrisses, Vrises and Vryses). There is one in the west in the Vamos Area, and there is one in the east close to Neapoli. This Vrises is the one close to Neapoli. It's a rather big mountain village on the east side of the Lasithi Plain.
The old traditional houses are built like an amphitheater on the mountain and overlook the fertile valley in front of the village. In this village with its many flowery village stands a big yellow church. If you make a walk over the steep roads of the village you will find nice places (like I found a nice goat in a stable) and you have beautiful views.
Close to Vrisses you can find two monasteries: the new Monastery of Koufi Petra and the old Monastery of Kremasti.
