Just before the entrance to the village is the church of Agios Panteleimon, a relatively new church and not really special, but fun. The village is beautiful and it is very quiet (in contrast to the nearby village of Agios Stefanos, where it was very busy). There are picturesquely beautiful old houses and a lovely church. Along the roads are a lot of pots with flowers and there is a view of the beautiful landscape of pine trees and cypresses.
There is a kafenion in Pefki and there is a restaurant (Piperia taverna, which seems to be pretty good we heard afterwards). The village has a Folklore Museum where Cretan items from earlier times are exhibited. I believe there is also a mini-market, but I'm not quite sure of that. In any case there is no post office, bank or ATM. The village of Pefki is definitely worth a moment to make a stop. Popular is also the walk through the nearby Pefki Gorge (canyon).
There is not much for rent in this quiet and traditional village, but there is an option to rent a holiday house (see below).
