The village of Mazi (this is what I remember it saying on the sign at the entrance of the village, but on the map it is called Maza) is a small village in the southwest of Crete, near the village of Sougia on the Chania - Prases - Mazi - Sougia route. Next to the village there was this small church which unfortunately was closed (often in the south west of Crete the churches will be open and sometimes you can be in for a nice surprise when they contain for instance Byzantine wall paintings. Often the outside of the church will be not so impressive).
