The village of Kastri itself is small and yet there are a few hotels (family hotel size - only small ones) and pensions, and there are some apartments for rent. At the seafront there are a few taverns. There are tamarisk trees on the village beach for shade but there are no sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. At first glance a lovely village with a very beautiful beach / naturist beach. If you take the road up from the village that leads to the "main road", you come past the old Byzantine Agios Georgios church which is then on the right hand side of the road. |

Listis Beach is just outside the village of Kastri towards Tsoutsouros. It is indicated by a sign. To get there you are faced with a steep climb down. Another possibility is to go to the next beach, which is called Kamboula, and then walk to the east. Listis beach is a sandy beach with some pebbles and with clear water. The seabed is also sandy. There are no facilities at Listis beach. |

What makes the beach so special is the beautiful rocks on the beach itself and in the sea. If you swim around the rock to the east you will end up at another small beach. The name Listis comes from a rocky area on the east side where there are several caves: according to the local residents a bandit (Listis) lived in one of the caves. The caves are easily accessible from the main road. |

Skouros beach is one of the beaches in the vicinity of the village of Kastri, which is located in the south of the Heraklion district, between Keratokampos on one side (east) and the beaches of Dermatos and Tsoutsouros on the other side. Skouros beach is located at the edge of the village on the west side of the village beach itself where the large Agios Myron church stands. Skouros beach is a beautiful long sandy beach with fine sand and some rocks and pebbles, surrounded by tamarisk trees that give some shade. There are no sun beds or umbrellas for rent on the beach itself, but in the village of Kastri there are plenty of taverns where you can get something to drink or eat.

This tavern is located on the road that runs along the beach of Kastri. It was a taverna where we were not expecting much and we just wanted a to eat a quick little lunch. We ordered a maxi omelette, a Greek salad and tzatziki. The food was really delicious. There were fresh herbs in the Greek salad, the tzatziki had quite some garlic in it and tasted good and the maxi omelette was absolutely huge, with crispy fries and with a delicious taste. Recommended in our opinion. Our verdict: a 9 out of 10 |

Taverna that is located taverna at the sea in the village of Kastri. We wanted to eat fish soup because it was advertised on the signs, but they did not have it. So we ordered a fish (dorade), a special omelette, a tzatziki, a Nektarios salad and half a liter of white wine. The special omelette had ham, feta cheese, bacon and potato in it. In the Nektarios salad there was cabbage, carrot, cucumber, endive, tomato and feta. Everything was fine. Our verdict: a 9 out of 10 |
