The monastery of Kremasta, just like the monastery of Koufi Petra lies near the village of Limnes and not far from the town of Neapoli. The monastery dates from the 16th century (above the door it says 1593) and the church within the walls dates from 1622. The monastery was closed when we got there and we saw no sign with opening hours. Besides the old monastery they were busy building during our visit in 2010. There were bags with material to make concrete everywhere and already a new church had been built next to the old monastery. During their occupation the Turks had their headquarters in the monastery and the British were also here during the Second World War in an attempt to keep Germans outside the area.
In front of Kremasta there is an agricultural area and a couple of sheep walk around. In the distance you can see the city Neapoli.
