The village of Astratigos is a small village on the Rodopos peninsula in the west of Crete. The village is close to the larger coastal resort of Kolimbari and can be reached when leaving Kolimbari heading for the fortress / monastery of Gonia which is 1 kilometer north of Kolimbari. Continue to the village of Afrata and then turn left at the junction here.
Astratigos is situated at an altitude of 900 meters and it is a very quiet village without any amenities. There are no shops, no tavernas and no rooms for rent, but there are two churches and about 40 houses. From the village of Astratigos there are beautiful views over the bay of Chania. The closest beach to Astratigos is the small pebble beach of Afrata, where there is a taverna as well.
