Thripti is a village in the Lassithi prefecture, which is somewhat in a isolated. It is located south of the coastal village of Kavousi / Tholos beach and can be reached via the route Ierapetra (south) - Kato Chorio - Thripti. The road to it is sometimes a little narrow, but it remains good and you have beautiful views. On route to Thripti from Kato Chorio you'll pass several small Byzantine churches.
The village is situated on a secluded plateau at 850 meters altitude and the area is very popular with hikers who love nature because the paths around it. The walk to Kavousi is about 7 to 8 kilometers. In the village of Thripti are many fruit trees such as apple trees and pear trees and even a kiwi tree. Many grapes are grown here to make wine. For Crete this is the highest point where grapes are grown. In the area are many rare flowers and birds of prey. In Tripthi is the beginning of the gorge of Cha. Dominant in the village is the large "Church of the Nativity of Theotokos - Holy Forerunner".
