Booster Draft

For this game you will need three 15-card booster packs or its equivalent (45 cards) for each player playing. For this format it is recommended that you have 8 players.

Rules

The eight players will sit in a circle with their positions chosen at random. Each player must have three booster packs and as a standard rule, all players must have the same type of booster. For example, if one player has 1 Invasion pack, 1 Planeshift pack, and 1 Apocalypse pack then all players must have them also. (A variant to this variant is a “Choose your own packs” game. This is where each play can use any 15-card booster.)

  • To start the draft each player opens one of the booster packs and reviews the cards. The pack opened must be the same type as everyone else at the table. The player chooses one card from the booster pack, and then passes the remaining cards face down to the player on his left. Repeat until all cards in the booster have been drafted.
  • Once the first pack has been drafted, each player opens his second booster pack and drafts it in the same fashion, except that the direction of drafting is reversed to counter-clockwise.
  • Once the second pack has been drafted then each player opens his third booster pack and drafts in the same fashion, expect that the direction of drafting is reversed to clockwise.

Once you have drafted your cards build a 40-card minimum deck. You may add as many basic lands as necessary.

 Sideboard

Your remaining cards are considered your sideboard. You may remove any card from your deck and add any number of cards from your sideboard, as long as your deck still meet the deck construction guide lines. At the end of your match you must return your deck to its original form. Example: After game one you decide to take 2 cards out of your deck and add 3 cards from your sideboard. At the end of the match you must return the two cards back into your deck and remove the 3 you added before you play your next opponent.

Mulligan Rules

Standard “Paris” Mulligan is used for this variant.

Before each game begins, a player may, for any reason, reshuffle and redraw his hand, drawing one less card. This may be repeated as often as the player wishes, until he has no cards left in his hand. After the participant, who plays first, mulligans as often as he likes, the decision of whether to mulligan passes to the other player. Once a player passes the opportunity to mulligan, that player may not change his mind.
