Tagetes essential oil is extracted from Tagetes minuta (a.k.a. Tagetes glandulifera) from the Compositae family. It is also referred to as marigold, Mexican marigold and tagetette. Tagetes oil is frequently confused with Calendula oil, which is Calendula officinalis and the "true marigold."

This oil is extremely potent and should be used sparingly. May cause photosensitivity and/or dermatitis. AVOID DURING PREGNANCY! DO NOT USE ON SENSITIVE SKIN!

Tagetes oil's therapeutic properties include antibiotic, anti-infectious, anti-microbial, anti-parasitic, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, insect repellent and sedative.

 

Uses

 

Tagetes essential oil benefits conditions such as catarrh, chest infections, congestion, coughs, fungal infections, parasitic infections and skin infections. It helps with bunions, calluses, cuts, wounds and is used as an insect repellent.

 

Burners & Vaporizers

Add to vapor therapy for bronchitis, chest infections, coughs and as an insect repellent.

 

Blended In The Bath

Add to massage oil, or dilute in the bath for chest infections, coughs, cuts, fungal infections, parasitic infections and wounds.

 

Blends Well With

 

Clary Sage, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Myrrh and Tangerine.
