Rosemary essential oil is extracted from Rosmarinus officinalis (a.k.a. Rosmarinus coronarium) from the Labiatae family. It is also called incensier.

Therapeutic Properties

 

Rosemary oil's therapeutic properties include anti-depressant, anti-rheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, degestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, hepatic, hypertnsive, nervine, stimulant, stomachic and tonic.

 

Uses

 

Rosemary essential has a pronounced action ont hebrain, it clears the mind and aids the memory. It helps with headaches, migraines, neuralgis, mental fatigue and nervous exhaustion. The antiseptic action of Rosemary oil is especially suitable for intestinal infections and diarrhea; it also eases colitis, dyspepsia, flatulence, hepatic disorders and jaundice.

 It relieves pain from arthritis, rheumatism, muscle soreness and gout. It benefits conditions such as arteriosclerosis, palpitations, poor circulation and varicose veins. The diuretic properties are useful for fluid retention, menstrual bloating and cellulite.

Rosemary is very good for respiratory conditions like asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu, and other types of upper chest complaints. For the skin it is an astringent which stimulates and tones the skin.
