Cajuput oil is extracted from Melaleuca leucadendron (closely related to M. cajeputi, a.k.a. M. Minor) from the Myrtaccae family. It is also referred to as white wood (from the Malaysian word kayu-puti), weeping tea tree, and weeping paperback.

Cajuput is non-toxic and non-sensitizing, yet could irritate the skin when used in high concentration.
