Description
Geranium oil is extracted from Pelargonium graveolens or P. odorantissimum, or the Geraniaceae family. It is also referred to as geranium rose. Geranium oil has a powerful floral aroma with a touch of mint. When it is extracted from the Odorantissimum plant it tends to have a slight apple tone, whereas the oil from Graveolens has a rosier fragrance.
The oil is made from the leaves upon turning yellow, this gives it a stronger aroma of rose, whereas the greener and younger leaves create a more lemony smell. It is also called the "Lemon Plant".
Precautions
This oil is not known to cause any irritations, sensitivities or toxicities, yet it can still cause sensitivity in some people because it balances the hormonal system. Avoid during pregnancy.
