Lime essential oil is extracted from Citrus aurantifolia (a.k.a. Citrus medica var. acida and C. latifolia) from the Rutaceae family. It is also known asMexican and West Indian lime as well as sour lime.

 

Precautions

 

When Lime oil is extracted by means of steam distillation it is non-irritating, non-sensitizing and non-toxic.

When the oil is obtained by means of cold expression it can cause photosensitivity in strong sunshine and cause skin irritation.
