Sweet Fennel oil is extracted from Foeniculum vulgare (a.k.a. F. officinale, F. capillaceum and Anethum foeniculum) from the Umbelliferae (Apiaceae) family. It is also called Roman Fennel and "fenkel".

 

Precautions

 

Sweet Fennel essential oil is a powerful substance and should not be used in large amounts as it may cause a narcotic effect. DO NOT USE during pregnancy or if you suffer from epilepsy. NEVER USE BITTER FENNEL IN AROMATHERAPY. NEVER APPLY DIRECTLY TO SKIN IN ANY AMOUNT.

 

Therapeutic Properties

 

Fennel oil's therapeutic properties include antiseptic, antispasmodic, aperitif, carminative, diuretic, emmenagogue, insecticide, laxative, stimulant, stomachic, tonic and vermifuge.

 

Uses

 

Fennel oil benefits digestive problems like colic, constipation, anorexia, syspepsia, flatulence, hiccups, nausea and emesis. Regarding obesity it affords a feeling of fullness along with having a diuretic effect.

 It has a cleansing effect which tones the skin. Fennel oil helps bruises and it is good for oily and mature complexions. It is a liver tonic and well-known for improving milk production in nursing women.

 

Burners & Vaporizers

Fennel in vapor therapy stimulates the appetite making it good for anorexic conditions.

 

Blended In The Bath

Add to massage oil, or dilute in the bath for bloating, colic, constipation, flatulence, loss of appetite along with other digestive complaints. Also acts as a diuretic.

 

Lotions & Creams

Add to base creams and lotions for general skin care, bruises, dull &/or oily skin and for cellulite. Also benefits swelling and rheumatism.
