Frankincense essential oil is extracted from resin from the Boswellia carteri tree, from the Burseraceae family. It is also called Olibanum.

This oil in non-irritating, non-sensitizing and non-toxic.

 

Therapeutic Properties

 

Frankincense oil's therapeutic properties include antiseptic, astringent, carminative, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, sedative and tonic.

 

Uses

 

Frankincense essential oil calms the mind, soothing the nerves,  thus, slowing down and deepening breathing. It helps clear the lungs and alleviate shortness of breath, coughs, colds, asthma, bronchitis and laryngitis.

This oil acts as a tonic for the uterus and can assist with heavy menstruation as well as during labor.

It is said to rejuvenate dull aging skin, and as a skin tonic it benefits sores, carbuncles, wounds, scars and inflamed tissues. It is also good for rheumatism and helps the urinary tract.

 

Burners & Vaporizers

Frankincense oil can be used in vapor therapy for asthma, bronchitis, colds, coughs and laryngitis.

 

Blended In The Bath

Add to massage oil, or dilute in the bath to benefit coughs, colds, flu, asthma, bronchitis, chills, poor circulation, exhaustion, rheumatism, heavy menstruation, congestion and increased mucosal secretions.

 

Lotions and Creams

Add Frankincense oil to base creams and lotions for general skin care to tone and condition.

 

Wash & Compress

Wash with diluted Frankincense oil to benefit scarring. Apply a compress directly to cracked skin, bedsores and other areas with impaired skin integrity.

Benzoin, Bergamot, Lavender, Lemon, Myrrh, Orange, Pine and Sandalwood.
