Patchouli essential oil is extracted from Pogostemon cablin (a.k.a. Pogostemon patchouli) from the Labiatae family. It is also called patchouly and puchaput.

 

Precautions

 

Patchouli oil is non-irritating, non-sensitizing and non-toxic. The aroma may be a little too persistent for some and may cause loss of appetite.

 

Therapeutic Properties

 

Patchouli oil's therapeutic properties include anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, astringent, carminative, diuretic, febrifuge, fungicide, insecticide, sedative and tonic.

 

Uses

 

Patchouli essential oil is helpful against fungal and bacterial infections, insect bites, and be used as an insect repellent. It assists with conditions of water retention, cellulite, constipation, obesity, inflammations, wounds, scars, sores, acne, eczema, scalp disorders, stress, anxiety and substance addiction.

Add to vapor therapy for anxiety, obesity and as an insect repellent.

 

Blended In The Bath

Add to massage oil, or dilute in the bath for obesity, anxiety, constipation, dermatitis and dandruff.

Can be used directly on insect bites.

 

Blended In Lotions & Creams

Add to base cream or lotion for general skin care, dermatitis, eczema, sores and athlete's foot.

Bergamot, Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavender and Myrrh.
