Cumin oil is extracted from the Cuminum cyminum (a.k.a. C. odorum) from the Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) family. It is also called cummin and Roman caraway.

 

Precautions

 

Cumin essential oil has an overpowering aroma. Even though it is non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing,it does have some photo-toxic characteristics so don't use on skin exposed to sunlight.

It should be avoided during pregnancy and by those with sensitive skin; all others use sparingly.
