Description
Clary Sage oil is extracted from the Salivia sclarea from the Labiatae family. It is also called clary, clary wort, muscatel sage, clear eye, see bright and eye bright (but not to be confused with the common herb that is called Eyebright (Euphrasia).
Precautions
Clary Sage is non-toxic and non-sensitizing but can cause headache if used in large amounts. Clary Sage has a relaxing effect and should be avoided when drinking alcohic beverages, as it could increase the effects of the alcohol. Avoid during pregnancy.

The therapeutic properties of Clary Sage include anticonvulsive, antidepressant, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, deodorant, digestive, emmenagogue, euphoric, nervine, sedative, stomachic and nerve tonic.

Clary Sage essential oil is calming to the nerves, especially concerning depression, stress and sleeplessness.
It is a good tonic for the womb and female functions in general, such as painful menstruation, scanty menstruation as well as being good for relaxation during labor which could result in a less painful birth.
Clary Sage oil is helpful with sore muscles, digestive disorders, kidney problems and cooling off skin that is hot and inflamed.
