Included in President Obama's litany of immigration enforcement's purported demerits is the claim that crimes will go unreported. That is, fearing deportation if they come forward as witnesses, illegal immigrants will not cooperate with the police.

But as Dan reported here several weeks ago, the Obama administration has indicated that its immigration agents will not process the illegal aliens referred to them by the state of Arizona. Meantime, the Obama Justice Department dismisses a voter intimidation case that it had already won, and the president himself tells Muslims he wants to loosen restrictions on Islamic "charitable giving" (translation: stop arresting people for providing material support to terrorism through donations to charitable fronts).

What could possibly cause more crime to go unreported -- what, indeed, encourages more commission of crime -- than government signals that law-enforcement agencies will not enforce the law?

Biden was at GE's Appliance Park in Louisville, where a raft of government subsidies (and probably some gentle urging from the White House) has spurred the multinational conglomerate to begin manufacturing hybrid electric water heaters -- part of the "new foundation for a new economy," Biden said.

But later this month, 75 miles east, workers at GE's Kentucky Glass Plant get to see the other side of Big Government. About 175 workers there make glass, which is shipped to the Winchester Bulb Plant. Winchester Bulb is being shut down in September, and so the Lexington Glass Plant will be shuttered in late July.

GE explained in a press release last year, "A variety of energy regulations that establish lighting efficiency standards are being implemented in the U.S. and other countries, in some cases this year, and will soon make the familiar lighting products produced at the Winchester Plant obsolete."

These were "green" regulations that then-Sen. Obama supported in the 2007 energy bill -- as did GE. The company, you see, makes more profit off the more efficient compact fluorescent bulbs, because the company can charge more, but also because it makes those bulbs in China, with cheaper labor costs and fewer environmental regulations.

So, Obama and GE teamed up, pushed Big Government environmental regs and killed nearly 500 jobs in Lexington, Winchester, and another glass factory in Niles, Ohio.

On Monday the organization released a statement from NAACP President and Chief Executive Benjamin Todd Jealous claiming that Byrd’s life “reflects the transformative power of this nation.”

Jealous goes on to say that Byrd, who once asserted that it was an affront to dignity to ask white men to serve alongside blacks during World War II, “went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country.”

A stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act? Not only did Byrd vote against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, he filibustered it for almost three months. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

AND he's he only man to vote against BOTH black nominees for the Supreme Court!

Going around the will of the people? Not only did the president push through the Obamcare bill over the will of the people, but he has ignored American voters demand to cut spending and cut taxes.

Rick Santelli voiced the frustration of the American people for being ignored by the President, when he ranted on CNBC, ‘Mr. President, cut spending.”

While the people have been asking for the President for a real jobs  effort, he has spent his time on issues that US voters do not want, such  as Obamacare, Cap and Trade, Buying GM and Chrysler.

When the president had a real crisis to deal with, the Gulf of Mexico oil  disaster, instead of fixing the problem he has concentrated on using  the disaster to pass his energy legislation.

Watering Down One Man-One Vote; The President has been working toward watering down the people’s right to vote for their leaders.  His continued support of ACORN and their history of voter fraud (though the AG’s refusal to investigate their crimes), the Justice Department’s refusal to prosecute the New Black Panther Party because they are African Americans, and the refusal to effectively protect our boarders are all designed to go around the American people and keep his progressive government in power for a very long time.

Oh, we get it Senator, this is another progressive attempt at silencing dissent against the progressive agenda, and it has strong Presidential approval.

When campaign finance lawyer, William McGinley testified at a congressional hearing regarding the Disclose act, he warned:

“the broad reach of the new definitions of independent expenditure… and covered coordinated communications… now appear to regulate internet communication, including the liberal and conservative blogosphere.”

McGinley said the media exemption provision does not include web sites or internet communications in the same manner as current law, which does protect political speech on the internet from government regulation and restriction. He concluded that

“this legislation does not exclude bloggers or internet communications, and places them at risk. If this bill passes, the internet’s status as a free-speech zone is in danger.”

Ignoring the Will of Congress. In the year since the House passed its version of the Cap and Trade program, nothing has gotten through the Senate.  It would have been hard to get the program through the Senate a year ago, now with all of the proof that “global warming” may one of the biggest frauds perpetuated on the American people, it is dammed near impossible. The President’s reaction is for the Environmental protection agency to regulate CO2.   In other words, the executive usurping the responsibility of the legislature.

It is clear that both the American people and the US Senate want the borders sealed prior to any discussion of amnesty for illegal immigrants already in the country.  That is why the McCain/Kennedy bill proposed during the Bush administration failed. That is also why the vast majority of Americans approve of the Arizona legislation designed to enforce the existing immigration laws (depending on the poll between 55%-70%). Yet according to a letter sent to Obama by Senator Grassley and Sens. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah; Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.; David Vitter, R-La.; Jim Bunning, R-Ky.; James Inhofe, R-Okla.; Thad Cochran, R-Miss.; and Johnny Isakson, R-Ga there is a real fear that the President will go around the Congress and grant illegal immigrants Amnesty via executive order.

Ignoring the Judiciary. Last week a Federal Judge struck down the President’s ban on deep water drilling. Rather than simply going  through the appeals process to challenge the ruling through the judiciary as called for by the constitution,  at the same time the Secretary of the Interior is re-imposing the ban with different language as a way of getting around the judge’s order.

For a moment, forget the “this can’t happen in America” thoughts running though your mind. Imagine we are talking about an imaginary country, “Freedonia.” Freedonia has been a constitutional republic for over two hundred years with guaranteed freedoms of speech and dissent, and a strictly enforced balance of power between the executive, judicial and legislative branches of government.

If you found out that the Prime Minister of Freedonia, was grabbing power from the legislature and the judicial branches of the government, would you be concerned?  If on top of that power grab, the Prime Minister was trying to water down the voting power of the people and pass legislation that could result in the silencing of dissent by the people of Freediona, wouldn’t you start to get concerned about the future of the Freedonian people?

Folks, that “Freedonia” scenario is the United States today.  Based on that, if you are not frightened about the future of this country, you should be.

Bat-wielding Union Thugs Attack Non-union Workers

Police say the incident began Wednesday morning when non-union construction workers attempted to gain access to the new Toys R Us site, but were blocked by protesting union workers.

When the victims were unable to gain access to the construction site, they drove to the area of the Transportation Center in the King of Prussia Plaza lot to wait for police assistance.

Authorities say while waiting for police to arrive, a black sedan pulled up and several white males exited with baseball bats and shattered both rear windows of the two work trucks. As the victims exited the trucks in fear, police say at least two were physically assaulted with the baseball bats. One of the victims was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment.

In addition to, um, actually playing to win, as suggested earlier …..

1. for the WC, and any larger league capable of implementing …. instant replay on goals. There were more goals disallowed (wrongly) than over half the WC teams scored. Since it happens so seldom, and carries such great importance why not get it right?

2. Related – use that IR to review flops/dives. Any “untouched” dive gets a yellow card.
