Woman died after doctors failed to spot toilet brush in her buttocks

Cindy Corton, 35, was left with the bizarre injury after a drunken fall in a friend's bathroom in 2005.
She was twice seen by hospital staff in the aftermath of the incident and an X-ray was carried out.
But an inquest heard it took Mrs Corton, of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, two years to convince doctors that the handle was lodged in flesh of her bottom.
By then what should have been a routine procedure to remove it had become much more dangerous.
After two unsuccessful operations in 2007, Mrs Corton underwent further, much riskier surgery and died from massive blood loss at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre in June last year.
Recording a narrative verdict, coroner Stuart Fisher criticised Dr Killian Mbewe, who first examined Mrs Corton at Grantham hospital.
After the inquest, husband Peter Corton said: "Cindy got a very poor service from the NHS.
"I'm sure she would have got better treatment in foreign countries."

Former Paulson analyst Paolo Pellegrini discovered where the biggest bubbles had grown and which were in the process of blowing up. His bets against these bubbles, of course, turned out to be right.

Pellegrini figured all this out using information that was readily available to anybody who was sufficiently motivated. You would think somewhere in the United States government there might be such motivated people. After all, we have an SEC, a Federal Reserve Bank, a Treasury Department, the formerly government sponsored entities Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Census Bureau, many data collection and analysis agencies, and too many congressional committees. All of these entities have the stability of the economy as part of their job description. Yet all of them combined could not manage your money as intelligently as one short seller from Rome managed John Paulson’s.

The main reason the government isn’t hiring short sellers is because short sellers would never waste their time working for the government. Short sellers really are some of the smartest people in the investment world and they would never be able to handle living in an environment of mediocrity.”

 Remember when the MSM went crazy over [and likely exaggerated] George H.W.'s supposed unfamiliarity with a supermarket scanner?  Pres. Obama has now had his supermarket-scanner moment, claiming he doesn't know how to operate an iPod, among other popular electronic devices.  Do you think the MSM will pick on this in the same way to paint a portrait of an out-of-touch president?

Addressing the graduating class at Hampton University today, PBO said:

With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation.

UPDATE: A number of readers have pointed out that Pres. Obama has spoken of his iPod playlist, and one reader sent along the photo here of PBO sporting an iPod.  So how will the White House respond on this?  Was PBO misquoted, did he misspeak, was he joking?  America wants to know!
