Student asked me for a sheet of "printer paper."  I didn't know what they meant.  Then it dawned on me - WE called it TYPING paper but nobody actually "types" any more.

Sis is under fire from her normally reasonable math teacher husband who blames HER for  electing Trump.  She (as I) voted for Gary J.  There were 5.3 million votes cast in Ohio.  Donks got just over 2.3.  Elphs got just under 2.8.  Everybody else got about a quarter of a million.  She did somemath and determined that 1<250,000 AND that 2.3 plus .25 is less STILL less than 2.8. 

We're close to a fight in the dressing room of the show.  The cast comprises on Libertarian, one Hispanic conservative Republican, one gay progressive Democrat and one gay unknown.  The GPD assumed that ALL theater people are leftists AND that the HCR must be progressive because, well, Hispanic, AND that the Libertarian must be progressive because he's smart, friendly and doing theater.  Our fourth member MUST be a Donk because he's 32, gay and unemployed.  Stereotype much?  But when he began spouting some hateful crap last night I spoke up.  We'll see how it effects the rest of the run.

I'm liking this.  Something new.  I sit down in the morning.  Read my news feed for an hour or so.  Then actually WRITE something that sticks in my craw.

I'm reading a lot today about every vote not counting. Many are making reference back to 2000 and claiming that a court decided which votes counted. I understand beng disgruntled but to me this misses the crux of the argument. The courts did NOT decide which votes counted but to some extent they DID decide what constitutes a vote.

Imagine you and I are standing on a freeway overpass and agree to count cars to determine a winner. You get eastbound and I get westbound. We begin and I'm ticking off Buicks and Suburus and Pria. So are you … but you're also counting SUV's and minivans and pickups. I dispute the total. I am NOT disputing which CARS counted. ALL cars count. I AM disputing what constitutes a car.

Am I wrong here?

I knew the outcome when the g/f climbed into bed at 3 am sobbing. I welcomed her back to Constitutional Federalism and read her Article II to calm her.

She lives in the coccoon. As a Libertarian I was preparred to lose either way so for me it was just a question of WHICH loss I suffered. But as a progressive she didn't even CONSIDER it. Trump (like Romney, and McCain, and Bob Dole, et al ad nauseum) was EEEEEVIL and there was NO WAY Hillary wouldn't win. The hint of the suggestion never wormed it's way into her cranium. So it is with a LOT of leftists this morning. Be gentle with them. They just found out there is no Santa Clause.

Will they start to question the “news outlets” that fed into their belief for lo these many months? Sadly, I doubt it. Will they ask how they turned into Pauline Kael? Sadly, I doubt it. Will they ask why millions of American did not conform to their viewpoint? Sadly, I doubt it. As we watched the returns (on CNN which didn't do TOO bad) she gasped and tsk'd every time anybody voted for Trump. Not when a state was CALLED for Trump. But whenever it was reported that ANYONE voted for him. She (and her Facebook and IM'ing friends) seemd to think it would be a shut-out.

Here's the deal: you can't spend eight years vilifying and demonizing half of the electorate and not expect SOME pushback. Bitter clingers? Basket of deplorables? “Our biggest enemy is the Republicans?”

I laid awake for two hours last night writing stuff in my head. Some of it is above. Some will be included in subsequant posts. Hopefully I'll return to”normal” blogging over the nextfew days. Other catagories will pop up more frequently. I'll weed out lingering “pre-election” stuff. Bear with me.

I started this blog just a few weeks before President Obama took office. I do not foresee much of a change from the treatment he got.
