The Obamacare delay decision may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.  “Of all the stretches of executive power Americans have seen in the past few years, the president’s unilateral suspension of statutes may have the most disturbing long-term effects.” It’s a violation of the President’s constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed. But the only remedy for such violations is impeachment.  

Wall Street Journal: 

. . . in June, the administration and an allied nonprofit, Enroll America, described how hundreds of thousands of community organizers will sign up seven million uninsured people for health coverage, once registration for subsidized insurance starts Oct. 1.

Then on July 2, the administration dropped a bombshell, delaying the employer mandate for a year.

Even Democrats were taken aback. Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin, one of the law's authors, was quoted in the New York Times saying, "This was the law. How can they change the law?"

The jury will get the Zimmerman case today.  Verdict Friday?  I would hope not.  Seems too fast.  But by Monday.  So here ae some odds and ends to keep in mind:

Taranto's take on the poll: 

Blacks are more likely (by 7 percentage points) to think most blacks are racist than to think most whites are. Moreover, they are 11 points likelier than liberals (regardless of race) to think most blacks are racist, and 9 points likelier than Democrats. And blacks are 3 points less likely than liberals to think most whites are racist.

All of which suggests that the people likeliest to believe most whites are racist and most blacks are not are those who are both liberal and white. Which reinforces a point we’ve made often in this column: that a lot of what drives the futile debate over race in America is white liberals’ psychological need to feel morally superior to other whites.

This came across my line as I was writing: In a pre-trial hearing this morning, the prosecution asked the court to bring charges of child abuse and third degree murder against George Zimmerman.

Who will be next?

last Saturday.  The 10 year old (but only four running) finally gave up the ghost so I baught a nice shiney new pair of Mizuno's.  Sunday took 'em to the track to break in ... 9x500 <3:00.  Monday was road work over a "new" 3 mile course.  Went under 30 for the first time since last September!  Tuesday was poker and buffet day at the Casino.  Then today a sever storm hit.  Temps dropped 20 degrees in 20 minutes.  Lots of wind damage, but I went for a run with it in the low 70's and almost no humidity.

Mile splits: 9:07/8:45/10:39 .... that beaks down to two miles splits of 17:52 and 19:24 ... and a three mile time of 28:21.  Last year END of July I was only 30:31.  Broke 28 end of August.  Soo glad I'm keeping track cause I was feeling so slow.

Next wednesday is the local meet.  No 400 being contested but I think I'll see if they'll let me in the 800 with theknowledge that it's only for 1 lap.  And we'll start the training regemin for 2014 tomorrow, modified to allow for a wednesday meet.

According to some naive treatments, in 1980 the world had 27.5 years left of crude oil, and yet we didn’t run out in 2008, even though annual consumption had increased.
