Randomorange's Multiplier Chart
For many players, determining the value of weapons isn't easy. Players who are concerned about whether they are over or under-bidding for a weapon often consult the opinions of other, more-experienced players. Hopefully, the following chart can be used as a tool for the purpose of comparing weapons. The purpose of this chart, the Multiplier Chart, is to provide quick and easy comparisons between weapons. The basis for comparison is a weapon's "multiplier rating" and the stats of other weapons that share the same rating. What the chart doesn't do, however, is the determine the value or the rarity of a weapon. To learn more about how the value and rarity of weapons is determined, please scroll down to the bottom of the page. It'll be easier to make reasonable comparisons between weapons with this chart once an adequate understanding of value and rarity is gained.

As of now, the chart is only available for non-silver and non-crystal weapons with an equipment level of 21 or above. I stopped the multiplier rating at exactly 3.0 times the average base stat since very few weapons beyond that caliber have been found in the game.

Multiplier level: 0.7 | 0.8 | 0.9 | 1.0 | 1.1 | 1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4 | 1.5 | 1.6 | 1.7 | 1.8 | 1.9 | 2.0 | 2.1 | 2.2 | 2.3 | 2.4 | 2.5 | 2.6 | 2.7 | 2.8 | 2.9 | 3.0

x0.7, x0.8, x0.9, x1.0

These are the lowest-stat weapons that you can find in the game and they aren't worth holding on to unless you can find someone who actually collects them.

These weapons are slightly above average in stats, but they generally aren't worth anything. An exception can be made for the 18a/18d Spiked Helm, which appears to be valued quite highly in comparison to other weapons with the same multplier rating.

x1.5, x1.6, x1.7, x1.8

Although above average in stats, weapons at these multiplier levels aren't worth a lot unless they are being sold in large quantities. Even then, finding a buyer can be difficult. It's generally a good idea to donate these weapons to clans since many clans will accept them for their armories. Exceptions can be made for Spiked Helms and Shurikens, which are far more valuable than their multiplier ratings may suggest.

x1.9, x2.0, x2.1, x2.2

Because they are quite difficult to find, weapons with these multiplier ratings are potentially valuable enough to be tradeable for lower and even mid-stat silver weapons. Spiked Helms, Sea Slippers, Shurikens, and Amini Clubs can be very valuable if they are found with a multiplier rating in this range.

Weapons of this caliber are very hard to find and many of them are valuable enough to be tradeable for several major silver weapons. However, finding a buyer might be difficult since many of these weapons aren't highest stat. Exceptions can be made for the Spiked Helm and Imacaci Mask since no one has ever found a helmet in the game with a multiplier rating beyond 2.6.

These weapons are among the higher end of their multiplier range; for many weapons, it is their highest range. They are very, very, very hard to find and one can except to pay a lot for these weapons. It is worth noting that not a single helmet has been found at these multiplier levels so far.

Limitations
It's very important to keep in mind that the Multiplier Chart does not determine the value or even the rarity of a weapon by itself. As stated earlier, the purpose of the chart is to make comparisons between weapons with similar multiplier ratings. Having an understanding of the correlation between value and rarity may be helpful when it comes to making comparisons with this chart, however.

Predicting the PRECISE value of a weapon goes far beyond the scope of what this chart is supposed to do. As with in real life, simple economics are involved in the trading of weapons and market demand is what often determines the value of a weapon. What players are willing to pay for a weapon is far more important than the rarity of the weapon or its multiplier rating. For instance, even though a 90a Gladius shares the same 1.8 multiplier rating as a 23a/23d Spiked Helm, the Spiked Helm is far more valuable than the Gladius since players are willing to pay much more for it. The fact that every player has different tastes and preferences is another reason why predicting the value of a weapon is difficult, if not impossible. Because many players prefer to wear Spiked Helms instead of Imacaci Masks, a Spiked Helm with a lower multiplier rating can be just as valuable as an Imacaci Mask with a higher multiplier rating. Also, the number of substitutes that a weapon has can have an effect on its value. Weapons with fewer substitutes, such as Spiked Helms, are often more valuable than other weapons with many substitutes, such as a Gladius.

Likewise, comparisons between the rarity of two or more different weapons can't be made with the Multiplier Chart - not all weapons are dropped at the same rate, nor is the existing supply of weapons equal. Provided that they are dropped at the same rate, a 90a Gladius is equally as common to find as a 23a/23d Spiked Helm. But of course, the Multiplier Chart fails to discern between individual differences between the two weapons. Spiked Helms and Gladius are not dropped at the same rate; in fact, Spiked Helms are much harder to find than most other weapons. Since Spiked Helms are high in both value and rarity, Spiked Helms with a lower multiplier rating can be just as valuable as other weapons with a higher multiplier rating. As another example, consider the Dragon Scale Jacket. Even though the Dragon Scale Jacket is the best body armour in the game and is worn by many players, the sheer number of DSJs in circulation has a direct effect on their value - with multiplier ratings of 2.0, a 160d DSJ can never be as valuable as a 26a/26d Spiked Helm.

As a final example, consider a 48d Serpent Scale that was being auctioned off recently. Even though it had a multiplier rating of 2.4, no one was interested in buying the Serpent Scale. All things equal, a 48d Serpent Scale would be as hard to find as a 31a/31d Spiked Helm since they share the same multiplier rating. However, there are two reasons why no one would ever trade a Spiked Helm of that caliber for the Serpent Scale. Serpent Scales are much easier to find than Spiked Helms, and being a left-handed weapon, there are many available substitutes for the Serpent Scale. The Spiked Helm, however, is much harder to find than other weapons and is valued highly by many players. Its closest substitute is an Imacaci Mask, which happens to be a helmet that generally isn't favored by players.

Still, this doesn't mean that the Multiplier Chart is completely useless. What all of this means is that once the concepts of value and rarity are well understood, reasonable comparisons can be made with the chart. As an example, after analyzing several transactions on the Trading Post forum, one may notice that there is a correlation between Spiked Helms with multiplier ratings between 1.6 and 1.9 and Dragon Scale Jackets with ratings between 2.1 and 2.4.

Notes

  • Headgear, in general, are valued much higher than other weapons at the same multiplier levels.
  • Weapons that are among the best of their class, such as Dragon Scale Jackets and Spiked Helms, are usually easy to sell. However, the value of the Dragon Scale Jacket with lower multiplier ratings is artificially being brought down due to the influx of DSJs in circulation.
  • Weapons that are not among the best of their class, such as Serpent Scales and Foul Axes, are difficult to sell regardless of how high their multiplier rating is. The demand for such weapons is too low and there are already many substitutes for those weapons.
