Day 23
Sunday July 14, 2013
I was up early again today for my final session in the tournament. I drew machine 4. They had a list of current scores at registration and I was currently in 35th place. It's anyone's game at this point but a royal or aces and a kicker are a must to win. Played aggressive for those and didn't have much luck. I almost scored on a junk hand where I held a 10 of spades and ace, jack, king came up, but the queen was lost somewhere else. I didn't hit a quad and only scored 610 points this round. That's not very good and I'm probably not going to make the top 50 places to be in the money.
Breakfast this morning consisted of too many donuts in the tournament area.
After the tournament session I ran to the laundromat to drop off our dirty clothes and cleaned out the car. When I got back Dee finished getting ready and we hit the casino for a bit and then went to the Ponderosa room for the awards and cake. The score card showed me in 69th place. I was only about a quad away from being in the money because most scores at this level were only a few points apart.
Now it was time to hit the casino for some video poker action. We started with the progressives. It was not a good session with each of us only hitting one quad.
We switched to triple play and got a little more play over here and hit a few more quads but still couldn't pull out any good wins. One noteworthy thing that happened during this session was the lady next to Dee. She held a single ace and popped a royal on the top line. After she got her hand pay she tipped the attendant and then turned to Dee and tipped her $20!
To change things up a little we played a variety of penny slots. This usually gets us a good amount of play but today it didn't work out. We lost as quickly here as we did on video poker.
To stop the bleeding we took a break in the room for about an hour and then headed back downstairs for dinner. Tonight we met with friends Norm and Andrea at Willy and Jose's Mexican Cantina. We usually go here once per trip. I ordered the endless tacos with endless Margaritas. After eating way too many tortilla chips when we got here I only ate my initial plate of food. Dee got a chicken chimichanga that was huge. For dessert Dee got a bananas foster dish which was like a giant burrito. I got fried ice cream. Everything was good and we both ate way too much.
We said goodbye to Norm and Andrea and headed to the triple plays. We got quite a bit of action over here but a lack of dealt winners and quads stopped us in our tracks. So far today all we've done is lost and didn't get a lot of play for the money that's disappeared.
One last shot for the day was to high limits and some $1 video poker. We both took $100 and hoped for the best. Dee played jacks but the machine next to her didn't have jacks so I played bonus. Dee was doing well and of course, what did she hit? Four aces. She also hit quite a few full houses to keep going but eventually lost her bill. I was hovering quite nicely and thanks to an abundance of full houses actually got the meter up over $300 without even hitting a quad. I plugged a away for a while until I got down to $225. I switched to double-double bonus planning on quitting at $200. On the first hand I was dealt 3 aces. This would have been too sweet to even hit a quad, never mind the kicker coming with it. As luck would have it, I ended up with a three of a kind.
I cashed out at $200 and for this session which was the best of the day we broker even and then came up here and went to bed!
Total win/loss for the day -$900
Total Comps for the day $77
