Day 16
Sunday July 7, 2013
Another late start today but we started off with the buffet here at Main Street Station for their Sunday Brunch. It was pretty busy in here today but the foods were fresh and turning over quickly. Oddly this buffet is actually cheaper then the brunch over at the Fremont and far superior.

We rolled out of the buffet and hit the triple plays trying to forget about last night's mess! Things were much better here than yesterday with Dee popping aces twice and other bonus quads. I had a fair share of quads and a straight flush. The killer today was a lack of dealt winners. The quads kept us going but didn't get us ahead enough. We lost about $100 but did get 17 scratch cards for $34.

We took a break for a while up in the room to give our eyes a break and, while we're up here we can't lose!

We went back downstairs and we hit the video poker machines again. We stuck to quarter single line machines this time. I was hoping we'd get to play longer on less money but that didn't seem to work out. Playing single line quarters we managed to drop another $250 between us and didn't get that much play. I'm amazed at how miserable the last few days have been but I'm thankful that the first week of the trip wasn't this bad.

It was a little too early to go to dinner so we played a variety of penny slots with no real luck but only losing $20 in over an hour. Maybe these should be the new game of choice for us.

For dinner we went to the Triple 7. One of my favorite dinners here is the meatloaf and that's what I got. Dee ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. Dee's was good but mine was a lot too salty. I was disappointed by this because it's always been very good.

After dinner we hit the VP machines again. Again, with few quads and almost no dealt winners we were dying a quick death. This is by far the worst day of the trip with the amount of money we are losing and at the rate we are losing it. I've always said I don't mind losing if I get some good play time but this is ridiculous.

For a pot shot we both took a shot with a $1 progressive bank. Dee hit a quad right of the bat but then that would be it for quads this session. We did get some play in but eventually the VP gods shot us down.

I brought Dee up to the room but it was so early that I decided to go back down and play out the last of the cash I had on me. I was either going to hit something or we would be going to the bank tomorrow to make a withdrawal. I hadn't played any table games this trip so I decided to play some blackjack.

The tables here at Main Street Station were packed so I wandered over to the Cal. There was plenty of space here and I found a double deck game and bought in. Things were choppy here to start with win one lose one taking place. Then things got good and the dealer started busting and when she didn't bust I had her beat on points. I was originally going to start betting quarters but pussied out and started betting $10 per hand. I had fired the bets up to $50 each progressing one unit each time I had a win. When things turned I got away with a $450 win thinking if only I hadn't wimped out! I was still happy with that as it made the final numbers for the day not as bad as they could have been.

On the way back over to Main Street I saw bartender Ronnie was over at the Boar Bar. I stopped by to see him for a few minutes. Ronnie has been here a long time and was actually a bar back for bartender Bob back in the old days. A few years ago he became the main bartender on the night shift. It was good to see him and I played some video poker for a few minutes. No major hits but I got to play for a while cashing out even which was actually good for a change!

Total win/loss for the day -$800
Total Comps for the day $133
