Day 8
Saturday June 29, 2013
Today Yahtzee Mike was coming down from Las Vegas to hang out with us. We haven't seen him in almost a year so it's going to be good to see him. While we waited for him to arrive we had a quick lunch snack at McDonald's consisting of a McDouble each.

Mike wasn't here yet so we went to hit the VP machines and waited for him while we were playing. Today we both chose 5-play. He arrived and we kept playing while hanging out. Dee got pounded not hitting a single quad. I was doing OK hitting a few quads and a few dealt winners. My meter got low so I switched to double-double bonus. I was dealt 3 kings and drew the 4th on lines 1 and 3 for a nice 500 coin hit and switched back to bonus. This was followed by a few dealt straights and full houses but then the luck turned. With very few hits I ended up losing everything and we ended the session with a $400 loss with very little play.

We all came up to the room to hang out for a while and to take a break from the casino. Mike had plans for dinner and a show this evening so had to leave. It was a short visit but it was good to see him. We'll get more time on the fall trip to see each other. Thanks for making the drive down Mike.

When Mike left we went back to the video poker machines. This time we scaled it back a bit and played triple play instead to hopefully preserve some bankroll while still getting to play. We got some decent play in but Dee's luck still wasn't running. I was able to save the session with a few quads.

For dinner we had reservations with the cousins for 5pm at the Outback Steakhouse. I ordered ribs and Dee got a cheeseburger. I'm not the biggest fan of chain food but everything was good tonight and did the trick. We also had a chocolate from down under sundae. It's nothing more than a brownie sundae with a fancy name.

After dinner we returned to playing video poker. We chose 8/5 bonus for halves. I hit a quad on my 3rd hand and never looked back. I continued to grow the meter for the whole session. Dee struggled and needed another bill but then things leveled off for her. One high point of the session (or low point depending on how you look at it) is we both hit straight flushes to the king. I went into a downward spiral and cashed out with a win before I lost it all and Dee was able to cash out even giving us a $200 win for the session.

We moved back to the triple plays after this and Dee got a dealt quad to start off the session. I was hovering for a while but then the machine sucked up my credits. I put in another bill and nailed a set of aces. Dee's machine got streaky and she hit another straight flush to get back into the game and a few more quads helped her out too. I hover for another short while before the machine went into vacuum mode so cashed out with just a $100 loss. Dee cashed out even.

We were going to give up for the day and Dee saw a Davinci diamonds machine and wanted to play $10 through it. She as always hovered while playing this and finally hit a bonus round. During the bonus round she continued earning more free spins and after 27 of them, the bonus round ended with over 4600 coins and she cashed out.

Total win/loss for the day -$450
Total Comps for the day $317
