Day 22
Saturday July 13, 2013
I was up early this morning to get ready for my first tournament session that is at 9:30am.

Before the session we hit the video poker machines for a quick session. We got slammed here with neither of us hitting quads and very few winners overall. We both got about $500 in action before busting out.

I had to be in the tournament area 15 minutes early to check in and draw a machine number. I drew 3. They were also serving coffee, juice, donuts and fruit. The game used for the tournament is double-double bonus. You get 1000 credits and 20 minutes to run them off. I wasn't doing well to start but then hit a quad 8's and a straight flush to finish with a score of 1125. A guy a few seats down hit deuces with a kicker and had over 1700 for his first session. Everyone else I could see had less than I did.

After my session I came back to the room and we got ready to hit the pool. We spent some time here and baked a bit more before coming back to the room and getting cleaned up for the day.

My next tournament session was scheduled for 12:30 and check in was 12:15 so we headed down there. I drew machine 12 this time. This session I only hit quad queens but still had a higher score then most people around me. It's still not enough to take the top prize though.

For lunch we went to the deli. Dee got a combo hoagie with fries and I got grilled cheese with fries. She also got a piece of carrot cake and I got chocolate.

Now it was time to hit the machines and we chose the same bank we played on all day yesterday hoping for similar results. Unfortunately the results were not good. No quads again this time and again very little play with us both dropping $100 a piece.

We took a break up in the room and that ended up being a 3 hour nap! I guess staying up late and getting up early caught up to us.

Once we got up we hit the casino again. We went back to the progressive bank and I finally hit a quad in fours to keep alive. Dee was getting beaten up but she also hit a quad eventually too. She lost a bill but I was still alive with a few credits left when I was dealt a pair of jacks with 4 to a royal. I said goodbye to the odd jack and the royal filled in for $1044. This was a hand pay on this machine which I didn’t care for but 20 minutes later I was finally paid. Unlike Dee who likes to throw money away and call it good karma, I tipped nothing for this.

We switched machines and I used the rest of my ticket, and another whole $100 bill without hitting another quad. Dee managed to hit a few more losing only $50. This looks like another one of those days that we hit a royal and only break even. On my half of the action today I've done over 3k and have hit exactly 1 quad. It's pretty sad when your royal count and quad count are identical for the day.

For a late dinner we went to Billy Bob's steakhouse. We were only going to have appetizers but they've changed the menu since we were last here and my favorites were gone. Instead we had a full dinner with Dee getting the fettuccine Alfredo and added shrimp. I got the trio of filet sliders. It's 3 different filets, one with bourbon garlic sauce, one with peppercorn and one with Bearnaise. Dee also had a snail appetizer. I'll pass on those. The food was really good and we were both full when we left.

After a short break we were back to the casino for a little more action, hoping for a few quads to make our money last. At this point in the day it's a good thing I hit that royal because we've had very little play, and we're actually bleeding money. This time we chose triple play. Things were choppy at first and that effing flush 4 hand was killing me. I got dealt flush 4 nine times before hitting a single flush on one hand. I finally got a quad and it came in the form of dealt sixes. I hit a few others along the way. Dee was choppy her whole session. She did pop a few quads to keep going though. She had one key hand of a dealt flush featuring 4 to a royal. She dumped the odd card and scored a straight on the top line. What a bummer. She eventually lost her bill and I cashed out with a $200 win.

It's now 1:15am as I type this. I've got a tournament session in the morning so it's time for bed! Goodnight everybody.

Total win/loss for the day $400
Total Comps for the day $185
