Day 19
Wednesday July 10, 2013
We got up early today and I ran over to CVS for a few items and picked up some cereal and milk for breakfast. This was a good change instead of eating loads of food at the buffet or restaurant. Then we got started off with a quick trip to the pool. When we were done we came back the room and get cleaned up.
We left Aliante and headed for the Palms with a side trip to Jack in the Box. We don't have these at home so we like to hit them a time or 2 each trip.
They Palms is running a $1000 rebate promo for new members. It's pretty much a freeroll and a shot to win some money with little risk. The only catch is the rebate is given in the form of free play on 2 different dates. Forty percent today, and the final 60% in 30 days. The second installment is valid for up to 12 months and we have already booked the next trip for this fall so we'll be able to take advantage of this.
Since Dee doesn't have a card in our married name, we signed her up as a new player. She wanted to take a shot at the quarter 50 plays. Since they have decent pay tables I agreed that it would be fun but the money could go VERY quickly and she was OK with that hoping to get dealt a quad or 2 during the session.
The session started out very rough with no dealt winners, not even high pairs. She blew through $500 in no time so I fed in another $300 for her. Things evened out now and she got a few more dealt winners including a straight, and flush and multiple three of a kinds. One key hand dealt her 3 aces. She hit 3 sets of those and launched up to a profit of $500 where she hovered for a while. Another neat event was dumping a junk hand and hitting another set of aces.
Around the 12k coin in mark things turned though. She started getting few dealt winners again and the credit meter was dropping rapidly. She had about $125 left on the meter and just as things looked like they were over, she was dealt quad deuces for a $2500 hand pay and a $1700 profit. While we were waiting for the money to be delivered Dee asked how much she should tip them. I wholeheartedly said NOTHING! She said she wanted to give something and asked if $60 was fair. I said hell no. If you must give anything, give $20. After then hand pay she proceeds to give BOTH of the attendants $20 each. I about shit myself. I'm a big believer that slot attendants are under appreciated and under paid but provide little to no service and do not deserve to be tipped in most cases. Whatever, what was done was done and I wasn't going to get that $40 back. I would rather have given that money to a housekeeper than to them.
We decided to take the money this time and not pursue the rebate any more or to try and get greedy. After the hand pay there was $63 left on the meter and we cashed that out as well.
They were also running a deal today that if you won and didn’t collect the rebate, you could redeem points for things ranging from casino logo junk to free play. She ran enough through to qualify for $100 in free play. She ran this through a single line machine with a few decent hits cashing it out at $90.
We left the Palms and I realized I never used the match plays I had in my pocket. I guess we were so excited to have hit the $2500 hand pay, it slipped my mind.
On the way back to Aliante we stopped at Palace Station for dinner at the Grand Cafe. Dee got the Waffle Breakfast of a waffle, 3 eggs and bacon. I got the value skillet with 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 toast and hash browns for $4! The food was good and then we were on our way back here to Aliante.
After a quick break I the room we hit the VP machines here. We chose the same triple play machines we played yesterday and I had about as much luck as I did yesterday dropping 2 bills and hitting no quads and only having 2 dealt winners better than 3 of a kind. Dee broke her quadless streak here hitting a few but in the end she also dropped $100.
On the way back to the room we played a variety of penny slots with the few credits left from video poker. I also still had $3 in free play on my card from when I signed up the other day. This along with $10 kept us playing for about an hour and we decided to lock up today's wins and go to the room.
Total win/loss for the day $1500
Total Comps for the day $213
