Day 18
Tuesday July 9, 2013
Up early today and after a quick in room breakfast it was off to the pool. They have a nice pool area here and it wasn't very busy yet. It's also a tad cooler than it's been the last 2 weeks as well.
Once were were roasted to medium rare we came back to the room cleaned up and got ready for the day. We started off with lunch in the food court at Capriotti's. I ordered their famous Bobbi which is turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce on a hero. It was very good and since I have no comps here, I actually paid for it. Holy shit, that makes twice in one trip I paid for food.
We started off our gaming day with some triple/five play action. This was a nightmare with me dropping $300 and Dee dropping $100 in just 30 minutes with no quads.
We switched to single line for halves to try and slow the bleed and it didn't really work. We did get to play longer but between us I hit the only quad of the day so far and this is with over 5k in action between us.
For something different to do we played a variety of penny slots. We got to play for a few hours but in the end lost another $50. This day is pretty painful and we didn't get much play in. On the video poker it was actually less than 2 hours to drop $700. The VP gods just aren't on our sides this week.
We took a break to lick our wounds and then I decided we'd go out tonight. I chose a place Dee has never been to and I haven't been to in many years. Arizona Charlies Decatur. We started off with dinner at the Sourdough Cafe. We both ordered off of their mix and match menu. You get an appetizer, entree, and dessert off a select list for just $10. Dee got a salad, spaghetti and meat sauce (can you tell pasta is her favorite meal), and banana cream pie. I had the fried zucchini, pork chops, and cherry pie. The food was really good and there was a lot of it.
Next up was a trip to the video poker machines. We couldn't get on the triple plays we wanted because someone was playing penny spin poker on them. Instead we chose a few that had jacks or better with the 8/6 pay table that paid 130 for quads. Just a few hands into the session I was dealt a flush with 4 to a royal. I dropped the odd card and on line 3 hit my very first royal of the trip for a $1000 hit. Other highlights of the session were hitting some more quads which considering the quad drought we've been in was a treat. One odd hand was dumping a junk hand and hitting quad 7's on the middle line and the low light was hitting quad aces.
Dee was still in her quadless streak and I was joking with her that I had more royals than she had quads. While it was good for a laugh, it's really not funny when you consider at this point in the day she's run close to 5k through the machines herself. She finally scored a few quads and was able to hover for quite a while on her machine. I had my meter up over $200 and cashed out at $140. I took $20 over to the penny spin poker machine. It had a horrible pay table but I played a high volatility game for some fun. I hit a few quads and cashed out with a $5 win! Dee was still plugging away and cashed out with a $40 loss. Combined with my $40 win we were even for the session, excluding the royal.
We left Arizona Charlies and came back here to Aliante to wrap up what started out as a terrible day but finished up pretty good!
Total win/loss for the day $250 <------ Whoo hoo, we won!
Total Comps for the day $105
