Day 9
Well after 5 nights here at Paris it was time to pack up and get ready for today’s move. After packing up and checking out I headed to the Luxor to check in. I was supposed to move to Fiesta Henderson for the next 3 nights but after I booked that I got an offer out of the blue from Luxor that was impossible to resist. Now keep in mind I don’t play at Luxor and other than popping in a few times over the last 2 years and putting a few points on my card I haven’t stayed there since about 1996. I’m guessing someone mined the database and saw my action down at Slots-A-Fun/Circus – Circus. The offer is for a 3 night stay in a 2 bedroom suite, $250 in free play, $100 in dining credits, free admission to the health club, 2 tickets to Hairspray, Fantasy or Carrot Top and a reserved table at Ra. They also offered limo service to and from the airport but I passed on that since I’ve got the rental car.
I checked in over at the VIP Lounge and headed up to rooms 13118 & 13119 in the east tower. This is actually a 1 bedroom suite with a standard adjoining room next to it. In total it’s bigger than my house!
The standard room has a king bed with 2 nightstands, a small sitting area near the windows with a table, wall unit with the TV and dresser in the center and a small closet on each side. The bathroom had a tub, glass shower stall and the toilet is in it’s own little corner.
The suite is huge with a foyer as you enter. This leads into a living room with a couch and coffee table and a wall unit with a TV and stereo system. The next room is the dining room. There is a small round dining room table with 4 chairs. There is also a breakfast bar and wet bar area with a sink and refrigerator. The next room is the bedroom with a king bed, nightstands, TV table armchair with table and dresser. I think the only thing that is odd about this room is the placement of the TV. It’s on a table at the foot of the bed and you can see the back of it along with all of the wires. From the bedroom a small hallway leads to the bathroom. On the right there is a make up counter. On the left is the main counter with dual sinks. Farther in the room is the toilet in it's own secluded area. Toward the right is another short hallway. On the right is a bathtub with whirlpool jets and at the end is a standing glass shower stall. Both rooms have a view of the of the south strip area of Excalibur, MGM, Tropicana and Hooters.
After getting set up in the room at Luxor I went to the casino and got in on a craps game. This was a $10 game with 3X, 4X, & 5X odds. It was choppy at first but one shooter did good hitting lots of numbers and I was getting paid on my come bets and he was making his point too. I couldn’t shoot well this session hitting only one point in 4 tries. The other rolls I went out right away. I cashed out the session with a $550 win.
I left the Luxor and stopped off at the Hard Rock to pick up the 2 newest chips for my collection and of course couldn’t stop in the Hard Rock without playing craps. The table was choppy here and I was up and down and then just down. Everyone cashed out but I still had some chips left so kept playing. I had a 10-minute roll on an empty table taking in about $700 - $800. The only problem was I was already down $500. I finished the session up a little over $300. One odd thing that happened while I as playing was when a guy came right next to me on a dead game and asked if there was room for him to play. I ignored him figuring it was just a typical Hard Rock drunk. He said it again and I recognized his voice. I looked up and it was Ned, a former dealer from up at Fiesta Henderson. He left there a year ago and now deals at Paris. We talked for a bit while he watched my hot roll.
Next move was up to Henderson to drop off laundry and then over to Fiesta to check in. I don’t really need this room but it was already booked and since I was going to be up there this weekend anyway it was easier than canceling. Checking in here is always a breeze and in a few minutes I was up in room 10111. All the rooms here are the same with either 2 queens or a king, nightstands, dresser, and small sitting table. I did notice they have now added a small stereo clock radio and refrigerator to the room.
It was now dinnertime and I went over to Sam’s Town to meet up with Yahtzee Mike for the buffet. I haven’t had this buffet in quite a while and back when I did, it wasn’t great. As far as I am concerned this buffet pretty much sucks. Almost all the foods I tried tonight were tasteless and dry. The only exception was the Chinese pork ribs and they were excellent. Even the desserts were bland and tasteless. Luckily we ate here on a comp that mike had.
From Sam’s I headed back here to the Luxor with a pit stop for some gas. At almost $3 a gallon this Cadillac took almost $50. Mike is coming to the Luxor too and I’m giving him the extra bedroom that my offer came with.
I gave Mike a tour of my suite and then we hit the casino. We couldn’t find any playable VP and the craps tables were all packed. Instead we played some penny slots for a while. I found a ticket on a machine for $4.10. These machines we were on were really tight and we both lost pretty quickly. From here we walked over to Mandalay Bay to check things out and watch people with large amounts of disposable income play games like single deck 6-5 blackjack for $100 a hand. We also checked out a band at Mandalay Bay for a while before heading back to the Luxor.
Total win/loss for the day $850
