Day 2
Thursday June 29, 2006

I slept in today since I was so messed up from working and taking a long flight with no sleep. After getting up and ready to go my first move was to hit the One Club and get my $300. In just a few minutes I had my voucher and was on my way to the main cage to get the loot. I also cashed in my cash back that I had let pile up for another $299 for a total of $599.

Today is the first day of the Casino Chip & Gaming Tokens Collectors Convention. This is being held over at the Riviera and I’m attending. Although I’m not as avid a collector as many of these people I have bought/sold/traded with many of them. I hung out here for a few hours looking at the memorabilia and then headed out. While at the Riviera I also played a penny slot and after 20 minutes I cashed out with a 5-cent win!

After leaving the chip show I had lunch down at the Pink Pony Coffee Shop. Just a bowl of soup and chicken fingers and everything was good.

Now I headed up to Red Rock Resort to check in. They sent me an offer out of the blue which I’m guessing came from my action at Green Valley Ranch although it may have come from Fiesta or Sunset Station. This offer is good for 2 free nights, $25 in free play, and $50 in spa credits. This offer expired at the end of the month so I had to book it for tonight and tomorrow. I was really looking forward to checking out this new hotel and staying here because I’ll probably never rate high enough to stay here on any other offers in the future (although I thought that about GVR and get offers from them quarterly). I took a quick walk through the place and made my way to check in. I was given room 7117 with a view of the strip. NOTE: The post card they sent shows red mountains that appear right outside the property. This is NOT true. Without a doubt, this room is one of the best I’ve ever been and beats the hell out of the room at Circus – Circus I was in last night!

The room isn’t the largest I’ve ever seen but more the enough room. It has the “art deco” type design similar to Hard Rock but also some of the features of Green Valley Ranch. This room has a king bed, 2 nightstands one with a BOSE CD player/stereo clock radio. There is a small sitting area with 2 armchairs and a small table. There is a nice work desk and dresser with a large flat panel TV.

The bathroom is done up in marble with dual sinks, a large vanity length mirror, standing shower, deep bathtub with a flat panel TV, and the toilet is in a separate room with a telephone.

I got settled into the room and made a quick stop to Target to get a few items for the week. When I got back I hit the casino. I took a shot in the high limits room with the free money I got at Circus – Circus on some $1 8/5 bonus. I had no luck here hitting only 1 quad the whole time and dropped $500. One interesting thing during the session was a lady a few machines down playing $10 5-play. Yes, $250 a hand. She got over $20,000 in W2-G’s while I was in there and was losing.

Next I tried my hand at some double deck blackjack. This table was tough but then leveled off. I played for about 3 hours and ended up dropping $500. Not a good start to the trip as far as gambling goes.

Next up was a late dinner at the Café. I had a breakfast skillet with corned beef hash, 3 eggs, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. The food was excellent and I used points to cover the cost.

I was beat at this point and even though it was early packed it in and went to bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$500
Total comps for the day $802
