Day 4
Saturday July 1, 2006

Today is moving day back down to the strip. Now I always hate one night stays like I did at Circus – Circus but that was due to scheduling. I even hate 2 night stays now because it seems as soon as you get settled it’s time to leave. Today however, I’m moving to back to the strip (where I’ll remain for the rest of the trip) and will be checking in at Paris. I haven’t stayed or played at Paris since December of 2000. There are few advantages to the giant mergers between casinos but one advantage I got with Harrah*s buying the Caesars properties was I can now book rooms at more than just the Rio and/or Harrah*s (as you’ll see through out this trip). Being a diamond card holder has it’s advantages too! I didn’t get an offer for this room but plugging in dates on the reservations page got me 5 comped nights.

Before checking out of Red Rock I made a quick stop at the spa. I had a $50 credit to use and they allowed me to get some merchandise, although this isn’t the standard. The credit was really supposed to be used for services. I ended up getting a candle for $21 and a bottle of lotion for $24. Yes, you read right. Those 2 items with tax ran $48 and change.

I left Red Rock and went to the strip with a quick stop at Jack in the Box for a quick taco lunch. Followed by a quick stop at Target. From here it was on to Paris to check in.

I checked in at the diamond area. There was only 1 person ahead of me but she was clueless and it took forever for her to check in. I still don’t understand why people that check in at hotels never have any idea that they will need ID and a credit card when they get to the desk and very few ever have that stuff ready. I finally got up to the desk and quickly was on my way to room 3023.

This room is has a king bed, night stands, small sitting area with a love seat and arm chair, work desk, armoire, and mini bar with those over priced items. The bathroom has a large counter, bathtub, and glass shower stall. I have a few of the strip and pool area and have a view of the Bellagio fountains Caesars Palace and Eiffel Tower.

After checking in I got my luggage out of the car and it was nice to actually unpack most of the stuff since I’ll be parked here for the next 5 nights.

I went down to the diamond lounge for “dinner” once I was settled into the room. This was my first visit to this lounge and they offered pretty much the same finger foods that the Rio offers with cheese and crackers, fruit, and sandwich wraps. There is also a variety of desserts.

After dinner I took a short walk down the strip and then back to Paris to get ready to go downtown to meet up with my friends Rich & Dawn at Main Street Station. At Main Street Station I played 9/6 jacks or better on the bar tops. Didn’t have much luck with anything but cashed out after about an hour with a $14 win and 3 scratch cards worth $7.

From Main Street Station we were going to go to the Palms but when we got there the place was packed. There were no parking places and the garage was nothing but a cluster eff. We decided to go to the Gold Coast instead. We played video poker at the bar and I was playing 8/5-bonus poker. I wasn’t doing that great but up and down for a while before losing $100. I put in another $100 and switched to DDB and quickly hit quad 3’s bringing me back to life and I switched back to the lower volatility game of bonus. I was up and down here but finally cashed out with a decent $50 win. Not huge but pretty good for 3 hours of play. Dawn did much better and actually hit a royal and Rich won a whopping $10.

After we were done playing Rich and Dawn left and I went to the Monterey Room for a late night meal. I tried the filet mignon sliders. It was 3 mini filet mignon sandwiches with fries. The food was really good and I used points to cover the cost.

I went back to Paris after this and finally went to bed at about 4am.

Total win/loss for the day $100
Total comps for the day $287
