Was about to go to bed and decided I'd read another page before I go down. I've pulled out the book, Wabi Sabi for Writers by Richard R. Powell. I found a nice little entry that reminds me that all this freeflow writing that seems like it's sometimes not going anywhere really will get me somewhere...
"Henry David Thoreau filled thirty-nine journals with more than two million words during the course of his short life. Out of that two-million word stream of consciousness he gleaned enough usable text for three books and a few essays. Several other works were extracted from this reservoir after his death..."
I have two trunks filled with my journals. I keep meaning to finally start sorting through them. Maybe that will be a goal for this year. I also have my mother's journals that I still haven't brought myself to go through.
Another thing that I've been doing lately is writing myself a daily email of 100 words (the minimum) of observations. I find that I can come up with ideas for my novel's direction and write some snippets that I can use later.
Happy writing for any of you writers that may find these entries...
Okay, I'm really going to bed now, I have to get up in 4 hours!
