Hello from Fuzhou!

Today marked our first full day with Lindsey, and she has quite the personality! We are learning more about her each passing minute. She LOVES to bang things on the furniture and bang them together. When she likes a toy she LIKES it. DO NOT take it away. She is so content with the few rattle toys we have. She likes to ride in the stroller as well...

In the stroller with my friend
and neighbor, Lillie Mei

It is so funny if you can picture her sitting in it and moving her body forward as if to say, "...come on, get going!"

Our day started with breakfast in which Lindsey ate NOTHING. We then went up to the 3rd floor of the hotel to pay our orphanage fee and the notary fee. We had to check over our documents for accuracy. All were correct. We sat with the notary and talked to her and signed our paperwork. It was hard to understand everything going on as the people were speaking Chinese. After this stop we again talked to Jack and signed the adoption paperwork. I can not recall Jack's exact title. He is very well-known and handles all the adoption paperwork for Fujian province.

We then went to Wal-Mart. It looks like our store but in Chinese. I will never complain about our parking lot at Wal-Mart again. At least we have one! Cars just kind of park anywhere at this one. It seems to work, though. There is also a Wal-Mart greeter. We had to purchase some baby cereal, diapers, and clothes for Lindsey. It was so HOT again today. This was about 11:00am and Lindsey had not eaten much at all. I force-fed her some liquids with a syringe but that was about all.

This hat is so funny!!!

The van ride back to the hotel was very hot and Lindsey looked like she was feeling the heat. We got back to the hotel and I mixed some rice cereal in her bottle and thickened it up and she did well. She sucked down 6 oz in a hurry. Better than yesterday. With her cleft you have to cut the nipple wide open and pour it in. She is unable to suck on a bottle. She "chews" the nipple and gets her bottle that way. She took a good nap as well today. No fussing at all.

My first nap

Our dinner was at a very nice, local Chinese restaurant. Our guide, Katherine, ate with us. We gave Lindsey some rice and she did really well. A lot came out of her cleft but she got some in. She took a little of her bottle but not much. Steve fed her some food and he could not go fast enough. She also loved his mushroom soup but without the mushrooms.

Our chicken... notice the head?!

She LOVES the stroller here. She would not take her bottle well tonight but she is not dehydrated so we are going to try again in the morning. On her menu for breakfast - rice cereal mixed with water and steamed eggs!! We will see how that goes for her.

Lindsey is asleep so I am off to bed. We are touring some places in Fuzhou in the morning so I will post more tomorrow. I do not have pictures of the orphanage director and nannies as my camera was dead. My neighbor took some with her camera so I will get them when I can. Enjoy the photos of Lindsey...

Good-night from Fuzhou.
