getting closer

we are patient people. but our patience has been tried a million times this past year. we started planning our house 3 years ago, finally got some land 2 years ago, and started building a year ago. yes, a year. it is taking that long. by the end of this month it will be 13 months. we could have been finished months ago, but getting all the subcontractors to work at the time you want them to work is basically impossible.

robin has a lot more gray hair than he used to. i'm getting more zits. when people ask us when the house will be done we try to cut them off with "don't ask!" we sigh just about every hour of our lives. it's this constant heaviness in our chests. we think about it before we sleep, when we wake up, it is our topic of conversation at every meal and intertwined into our prayers.

there have been so many delays. at one point our wood floors were stolen and the most recent delay has been waiting for our cabinets to be made. we are still pending a few and these still need to be stained!

(i just sighed again)

i'm tired, i just got another zit on my chin writing this. change of subject.

scape goat

the unfinished house is our excuse for everything. we'll eat better, exercise more, buy more groceries, use that dish, invite more people to Bible study . . . once our house is done.

job

i loved my job, hated my job and interviewed somewhere else, and now while i don't "love it" I like it again. i have probably said that many times before and will say it again. i've got to count my blessings.
