gift cheating

this is likely the last year we will be able to cheat Ryan out of Christmas gifts. He had so many gifts from his October birthday that we decided not to buy him anything. Plus, tons of people from church, friends, & relatives bought him Christmas gifts. We have practically every item Leap Frog has to offer!

Christmas program

Our children's Christmas play and church program the 24th was probably the best one we ever had. The kids were great. One child in the choir sang like a sheep with that shaky voice kids do to mimic sheep. It was too cute. What was weird is that 15 years ago I used to be part of that play . . .

Christmas

We woke up early to attend morning church service which was surprisingly not crowded. Everyone had already gone the night before and were tired, but most of us there were "repeaters" from the previous night. No Christmas program this time, just normal church with a good sermon.

That night, we had a party at my parent's house. For a non-medical party, there were actually 7 physicians there.

Working after Christmas

I decided to work after Christmas, Monday, but then later wanted to have it off but it was too late. I had thought i had no "paid time off" hours accumulated and got stuck. Supposedly, working the day after Christmas at the clinic is easy money, but it was busy. Luckily, there were 2 of us to see patients, otherwise it would have been too overwhelming. The bulk of the complaints were cough and congestion. 90% of them could have easily been treated with a "tincture of time" but no one ever wants to leave the doctor empty handed.

From now on, I hope never to work on holidays if given the choice.

ALL IN ALL

This Christmas was just an "eh." Yes, it is the birth of Christ, but because it fell on the weekend, it was just like any other weekend. We celebrate the birth of Christ everyday, but FORMALLY, I prefer it falling on a weekday so that I can get the weekend AND a weekday/s off.

toilet alert

Ryan's new fancy is sticking his hand in the toilet and splashing the water around. Only a second goes by after a back is turned and subsequent shrieks of laughter (from Ryan) and shrieks of shock occur (from his parents). He has done this 4 times in the past 2 weeks.

You think it could never happend to your child, but it can! I use to laugh when our niece dropped the cell phone in the toilet, followed by a brush, etc. I thought I'd always be albe to keep an eye on my own child. But no, that isn't the case. They are sneeky little things once they start walking.

We don't want to get those locks for toilet seats b/c inevitably I'll come home from a 1/2 hour commute needing "to go" badly. Who wants to mess with a toilet lock in those times of dire need? So I guess we must resort to a few mor episodes of disgust until Ryan finds another way to amuse himself.

I have a yet another board to take

This time for certification. Let's hope experience will help me.
