drifting

Whoa. It's been a long time. I don't even write in my personal prayer journal that much either. And I've been writing a personal diary since I was 8!

almost done

Two more weeks and I would have accomplished what my grandmother sowed in my mind when I was 3. I will be a full fledged, licensed, graduate from residency!

The process of obtaining my license has been draining my pockets. Texas is one of the most difficult states to get a license because it is extremely time consuming and expensive.

License application ~$850
Medical jurisprudence exam $85 (many other states do not require this exam, IN addition to the three USMLE boards)
Temporary License $50 (you have to personally drive to Austin and show your medical diploma unframed to the Texas Board)
Registration $400-800
----------------------------
$1785

for the Controlled Substance Registration License $25 (to dispense prescriptions)
for the DEA number (to dispense other meds like opioids) $~$350
-----------------------------
$375

These expenses are again paid every 7 years or so and are mandatory to practice.

Vacation

Nonetheless, I do have a month of vacation before I start my job. Yeah! They wanted me to start earlier, but all the other docs told me to take my time off because I'll be working for the rest of my life.
