I've been lucid dreaming for years; my earliest childhood memories are those of dreams and controlling them. When I was six or so, I used to discuss them with my mother -- who, being a fan of paranormal/psychic stuff, was quite supportive of this.

What I've always found interesting is the perception of time in dreams, lucid or otherwise. I've had dreams that probably lasted only 5 minutes, but in the dream it felt like 10 hours... this is especially true when constantly hitting the snooze button on the alarm clock.

But, I've digressed. Lucid dreaming is also a viable means of practicing Astral Projection, as many people can do AP from a lucid dream. The key is waking up in the dream and then consciously willing yourself to leave the body. Whether or not AP actually happens is a matter that has been long debated.

Anyway, it does make one wonder about the true purpose of dreams -- if there really is a purpose.

As to the others. Yes this topic has been around for quite awhile and hopefully will continue to be around for many more months to come.

Well I kind of had things like this, I remeber every single enjoyable dream(not a lie) well I remeber parts that I rember better when I wake up,and that seem more real when I deam, and I also have a feeling of control, but I can't really master it, when I'm in Lucid dream, I do stuff on natural reaction or what I'd do in real life like just let it flow, but I don't noice its a dream enoughf, I can't do stuff realy out of the ordinary, like lets say I wanted a hotdog, I'd just by it but not tip the cart over and take as many as posslible, or lets say I saw my favroit rollercoster, I'd go on it but no do something likeclime up it and jump, is there any advise to start controlling these stages of dreams, (well it once in my life when I was 8, I was in my old house and my teacher was in the living room yelling at me, then I wike up for a sec the went back to sleep, when I got back, it was the same thing then I said, "no I only dreaming, then I wanted icecream and a cone was right in my hand, but thats the only time)

I find this a sad time because it is the final moments of this topic. I'd like this topic to last as long as possible and stand as the first P/C 500 post non-joke topic. (Which it will be)

Please lets make it so when I archive it we don't have people with mass bumpings and much more of content posts. (PS. Had a dream last night that A mod deleted this entire topic for off-topicness)

For the other poster it is highly amendable that you can remember all your pleasure dreams. That is a very difficult feat. I too, however, can remember quite abit about my dreaming history.... usually just the dreams i've had within the last year as well as my landmark dreams such as my first flight which occured in a green room with absolutely nothing in it. As well as my first O-B experiance in which I tried to "Be like peeps from dbz" and shoot a Psi ball... which resulted in what I considered to be a "soul representing object" to be projected. At which point I felt drained and feared I might kill myself in the dream. I did not continue but was able to use that particular sensation to acheive o-bs in the future. Stuff like that stands out in my mind. But the fact that you can remember every dream you have ever had is extremely remarkable.

PS. The site is:

http://continue.to/pcforum

Bookmark it as I would like to continue answering questions once this topic reaches 500 there.

Please do not mass bump that is the last thing that I want.

Kuja, I think the word you're looking for there is commendable, not amendable...

Why have you suddnely started posting everything in bold/italic?

And to Da Bear, how do you know you remember every pleasurable dream? Unless you remember every dream every night, you can't be sure that one of the dreams you don't remember wasn't pleasurable...

And I suggest working on your grammar a bit.

Hi i hope that someone will answer this and not forget but what can you do in real life to increase the chances of having lucid dreams.
From: Kuja9998 | Posted: 3/4/2004 10:21:43 PM | Message Detail
Sorry for the bad choice of words errrr non-words rather. I just mistyped it I type at over 100wpm and mistakes like that tend to occur at that speed. It was not really a grammer choice just a typo. And I like typing in bold/italic ;)

Also you are highly right about his dream sequences. There are millions of dreams each night just the ones that form real-life-like sequences are remembers to any degree and most of those are forgotten upon waking. However, what i found remarkable was that he was able to remember dreams that he had throughout his life. I for one can only remember the most significant and I consider myself to be an avid "dreamer" However, this shows extremely good dream recall that will probably make reality checks and dream sign recognition far more effective for him.

PS. I'm including this in every post:

Well, the first step in getting good at lucid dreaming is to try adn remember your dreams. I kept a journal type of thing and now I can remember my dreams every time I wake up. Then you just do excersises when you're falling asleep and such.

Just google lucid dreaming, you'll most likely find plenty of good sites with ways to LD.

well if I did like the dream or if it was boring I forget it in about a week because I didn't like it, example lat night I dreamed I was playing on my Gameboy and it kept doing the samething action over and over agin(I can't rember the game) I'll forget it soon so that an example, and sorry about my grammer, I have a hard time with it

There are many things that you can do in real life to increase your chances of having lucid dreams. Most of them are somewhere in this topic and are in the main post. (Read first post on this topic) Bascially you can do the following:

1, Read up on lucid dreaming
2, Perform reality checks on a regular basis with some kind of trigger that when it happens you will ALWAYS never fail do the exact same test to see if you are awake.
3, Keep a dream journal in which you will record your dreams in at night as soon as you wake up from it.

Read the first post in this topic for more details for each of them

Ok, I'm not sure if this was a lucid dream or not:

I was in my room, I can't remember what I was doing, though. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, I just realized I was dreaming and new it was a lucid dream. The first thing I did was try to change the environment, but nothing happened at all. I started concentrating on detail of my surroundings, to see if that would help. Nothing happened, and then I started to feeling really tired (or really awake, whatever you would consider it, since it was a dream). I had trouble staying asleep, I had to struggle just to stay in the dream. I don't remember it to vividly, and I think it might that I was dreaming that I had a lucid dream, if that's even possible. This was my first dream like this I ever remember having, so was what happened typical for someone's first lucid dream?

Thats a pretty typical first lucid dream. What you lacked is substanciation. You need to substanciate your power over the world. When first starting and even with veterans when they have a low lvl lucid dream. You must give the subconcious mind a reason to believe that you can do these things. In a lucid dream the concious mind is continuously sending requests to the subconsious mind. However, like asking your driving partner to go somewhere that doesn't exist the subconsious mind often doesn't comply. To fix this you have to "draw on the map" Make up something that isn't real like drawing a castle on a map and saying to your driving partner "go there" Doing this if well done will make the subconsious mind deliver any message you want it to therefore giving you full control of your dreams. Watch dbz and try flying at first that is the easiest manipulation. Try to make things appear in your pockets and little things like that. After mastering those little tricks you should start working on substanciating your maniupation of the world. Watch such shows as I dream of jeenie which is excellent as the "blinking" will not only make you substanciate it but it will also give it a way to change and avoid to often limiting "omg what will it look like while changing" shock that often halts this practice of manipulation.

The World of Dreams in the series "The Wheel of Time". I wouldn't be surprised if the author, Robert Jordan came up with Tel'aranrhiod after having a lucid dream.

I doubt it, Robert Jordan didn't really seem to know that much about dreams, in his books even if you knew that you were dreaming you would get swept up in your dreams and lose all control.

Tel'aranrhiod was probably a rip-off of H.P. Lovecraft's Dreamlands or perhaps had no influence at all.
