I have been trying to get lucid dreaming down and it is tough, in fact the last four lucid dreams I have had were purely coincidence, I did nothing before hand for any of them yet I had them anyway. These last four have occurred over the last week, yet with the first three I woke up right away and with the fourth, I woke up after about ten seconds (I seem to be getting slightly better, but only very slightly).

Anyway, that is my biggest problem is staying in the dream. I try all of the methods such as looking at your hands and spinning and such but it never works. Does anyone have any other advice on how to keep your lucid state besides the normal methods everyone knows about?

Also, a dream journal wasn't necessary for me, I have been very lucky I guess because I can remember nearly every dream when I awake so that may help me in attaining the lucidity.

Thanks ahead of time for any help and thanks to all involved in keeping this great topic alive.

Well..... focus on something that is near you preferably your body or the ground..... spinning should definitely work... if those fail though then you are probably just too excited and should learn to relax more in the dream by simply having more lucid dreams.

Ok it's me, one of the former Lucid Dreaming Masters, with his own geocities site about it. You most likely don't remeber me as I got banned two times, but if you do remeber kiddies in a lucid dream IF you go through a mirror you will NOT I repeat WILL NOT enter Astral Projection. Going through a mirrow just takes you to a different part of your dream. I tried to go through one and it did that matrix thing to me, where the mirrior liquidates and covers your body.

Well thats your opinion now isn't it? I never said that it would take you into astral projection. I merely said (or meant to say) that it would probably be the only way to do it as in a lucid dream your subconcious mind sends signals that were requested by the concious mind... well during this time we have unbelieveable control over our subconcious mind... in this state is probably the only time that we would be able to do any type of astral or telepathic feats... not that It is probable just that it is the only way and is a logical reason to study and practice lucid dreaming.

I feel sad for you if you do not understand that the workings for a lucid dream are extremely dynamic and involve using the mind in a way unlike any other type of thought.... if you were once a former P/C master at lucid dreaming and didn't know that then i would strongly suggest re-observing your accomplishments here and perhaps re-thinking your self-given title.

I'm going to answer your most ridiculous question with a serious answer. There is absolutely no harm in lucid dreaming. That dream if it actually occured probably has little or no real world value.

Yeah, dreams really don't matter in real life. The only effects they have on my waking hours are:
-Amusement, sometimes I end up in pretty interesting situations, and they can make for good stories.
-By seeing who shows up in my dreams, and how often, I find I think more about some people than I realize consciously, because what you dream definitely depends a lot on how/what you think and what you do that day...
-I remember my dreams so well after keeping a journal so long that sometimes I will remember events in a dream as a connection to real life - and sometimes I don't know whether that particular thing actually happened. Oops...

When I was ten I had a dream, but I figured out it wasn't real because I was playing sega genisis, when I didn't own at the time. I wasted the rest of the dream playing the game, which was very similar to the real one in my dream.

Another time, I figured out I was dreaming, but I didn't do anything agian. I wasted both of the times, but.. oh well. I'm not too interested, although I will try to get one tonight, for fun. I doubt I'll succed, though.

Good topic. I just wanted to add that I've been having some incredibly vivid dreams lately. Dreams that seem real and are entertaining. It might sound funny, but I kinda look forward to going to sleep to experince these dreams. As vivid as they are, however, I am not sure if these are lucid dreams. When I think about them, I can recall times where I felt like I was in control of myself...but for the most part it just seems like I'm caught up in the moment and going with the flow.

Just defending my theory on the capabilities of harnessing the brains potential through lucid dreaming. Even cosidering yourself one of many masters might be a bit strong if you do not fully understand this. If I came off a bit strong sorry but when defending my theories I tend to do just that.

i tried to have a lucid dream, but turns out, i didnt get any sleep until 4 am, (tried at 1) :(

Alright my first fully lucid dream: The first part was real long for one of my dreams, but I got about 11 hours of sleep, so I had time to get up in REM stages. I was down in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, and I was hanging out at this giant convenience store/house, and everything was free. Alot of fun stuff that wasn't so clear when I woke up happened and it was a nice long day. At night, though, the cops showed up and said that whoever was holding the party had broken into the place, so all the free stuff we'd used was stolen. Me and two friends got busted and were sitting in a room, and I kept thinking "This can't be happening" then I thought "Isn't it still February?" So i dream checked the clock and realized I was dreaming. I then flew out the window and into the air. I needed to do a spin to keep in the dream (it DOES work) so then i started to fly around, and it's true that you can feel it too, to whoever asked between the difference of daydreaming and lucid. Anyways I started trying to shoot off energy blasts DBZ style, but I didn't get far with that. I just kept flying around and kind of woke up.

FYI This was technically the first dream I had complete control AND a lot of time. I went lucid before and started to fly, but it kindof stayed 3rd person and I watched myself fly off. This one got a little third person at times, but just to my face or something like that. Otherwise it was a great lucid dream.

Good stuff here.

All the lucid dreams I've had, I 'v never even thought about flying around. I could run fast as hell though. The closest to flying I got was jumping really high, and floating a foot off the ground with the momentum of the run, DBZ-style.

Most of my lucid dreams are porn-like. I got good control after all this time too :P

My 2nd fav dreams are the horror type ones. Either being chased, or being the one chasing. Hunting down people you don't like with a chainsaw or katana. Or being chased by puking zombies with knives for feet. A video game can't compare to these dreams.

But I hate the dreams that are school. SOme times there can be some descent erotic sessions, but most of the time it's me wandering the school looking for some action. Hell, when I wake up I'm going right back to it so it's a big downer -_-

Ya, nice topic. BUMP.

I think I had lucid dreams, but I'm just posting to confirm it.

One dream that comes to mind, is when I was driving around in a car. I don't remember the dream too much but, what happens next is what is strange. the dream sort of fades away a bit, and I think...I'm in bed and it's 7:30! I gotta get to school! so then I go back to the dream and quickly conclude it. then I wake up and it's 7:31.

another experience is that I in my dream, on a beach. Yep taking a vacation, so I'm in a hammock. Then I get a "feeling/warning" that I need to get the heck out of bed. I wake up within 5 seconds of that, to find that there is a important call on the phone. I have my phone on the lowest volume and I'm hard of hearing, so it couldn't have been that I heard the phone(my hearing aids were off, and I can't hear the phone's pitch w/them off)

So... is this lucid dreaming? or something else?
---
Hmm..................Yep, my brain stopped.

Yes..this all works, I did it many times..and every time I wanted, but it's so boring to control your dreams because:

I always woke up tired from the dream. As If I was actually moving..maybe I was.
In 2 minutes of the dream you have all the control, and in 2 minutes you just start to lose control and forget you knew it was a dream... Sometimes after I woke up from a dream I didn't know where, how, or "if" I was really there..I started to punch me, sometimes I didn't even trust my own eyes. To be stuck in a dream..it's very sad..'cause you just can't tell the difference.
