Johnson Resignation

The undersigned Lieut. Colonel of the 33rd Regiment of Mississippi Vols.
shows that he was duly elected Lt. Col. of said Regt. on the 17th
day of April 1862, and has been duly commissioned as such.
That the healthiness of the undersigned has been uniformly bad since his
election to said office to such an extent as to render him unfit for
military service the greater part of the time.
That he is at this time sick and unable for military duty, as will be
seen by reference to Certificates of Disability and signed by W. W.
Hart, Post Surgeon, at Grenada, Miss. and W. B. Wall, Surgeon 33rd Miss.
Regt. and marked exhibit "A". [Severe hemorrhoids]
That the undersigned being unable to perform the duties of said office
and believing that he will not be able to do duty in any reasonable
time, he does hereby tender his resignation as Lt. Col. of said 33rd
Regt. of Miss. Vols., and prays that the same may be accepted and the
undersigned discharged from the further performance of the duties of the
said office and that this resignation may be taken as unconditional and
immediate.
