Whitley County coach Sean Pigman started the following lineup: 5-6 So. Marissa Douglas, 5-5 So. Kylie Brown, 5-8 Sr. Taylor Rice, 5-6 Sr. Bailey Brown, and 5-6 Jr. Marti Ahumada Xirgo. Madison Central coach Brad Lovely countered with 5-10 So. Bailey Hensley, 5-7 So. Eden Carter, 5-9 Sr. Kessaney Melton, 5-7 Fr. Brittany Campbell, and 5-6 Fr. Nataya Strader.
Madison Central buoyed by a 22-11 advantage in the third quarter earned their first victory of the season with a 66-59 win over Whitley County. There were seven ties and 13 lead changes in the game. Madison Central shot 39.1% from the field including fie of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 26 Whitley County turnovers. Whitley County shot 37.2% from the field including eight of 24 from beyond the arc. The Lady Colonels connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 18 Madison Central turnovers.
Bailey Hensley led Madison central with 19 points and eight rebounds. Eden Carter added 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and eight steals. 5-7 Jr. Chloe Freeman came up big tonight with 12 points on four three point baskets. Brittany Campbell recorded 11 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Kessaney Melton chipped in with seven points and eight rebounds.
Marissa Douglas led Whitley County with 20 points including three three point baskets, seven of 10 free throws, nine rebounds, and three assists. Bailey Brown added 11 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Marti Ahumada Xirgo recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds. 5-8 Sr. Taylor Rice chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds. 5-6 So. Kaytlynn Collier added six points and four rebounds.
