South Laurel coach Jeff Davis started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Brayden Reed, 6-1 Jr. Eli Gover, 6-6 Sr. Rhys England, 5-11 So. Ashton Garland, and 6-0 Jr. Parker Payne. Frederick Douglass coach Jason Moseley countered with 6-7 Jr. Tyson Barrett, 6-0 Jr. Tylon Webb, 6-7 Sr. Shemar O’Roy-Ford, 5-5 Fr. Armelo Boone, and 5-11 Jr. Kai Simpson.
South Laurel defeated Frederick Douglass by the score of 53-46. South Laurel shot 43.5% from the field including eight of 19 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored nine points off 11 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederic Douglass shot 37.5% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 South Laurel turnovers.
Eli Gover led South Laurel with 19 points including five three point baskets, and eight rebounds. Parker Payne added 15 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Brayden Reed recorded 11 points.
Tyson Barrett led Frederick Douglass with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Armelo Boone added 13 points including two three point baskets.
