Owensboro defeated Frederick Douglass by the score of 28-27.  Owensboro got off to a fast start as Kenyatta Carbon intercepted Frederick Douglass’ pass on their first play from scrimmage and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown.  Their woes continued as Owensboro raced out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.  The Broncos battled back to tie the game at 21-21 with 8:10 to go in the game on a 27 yard run by Darius Neal and a conversion kick by Cooper Ranvier.  Frederick Douglass then took the lead on a 27 yard pass from Samuel Cornett to Dekel Crowdus but the kick was missed leaving the Broncos with a 27-21 lead.  Gavin Wimsatt connected on a 7 yard pass to Ethan Avery and Andrew Lanz kicked the extra point to give the Red Devils a 28-27 lead with less than two minutes on the clock.  Frederick Douglass had one more opportunity but on a 4th-and-inches from the 10 yard line they elected to go for a 27 yard field goal but it was wide and Owensboro held on for the victory.

Owensboro recorded 260 yards of total offense and had two passes intercepted.  Frederick Douglass recorded 377 yards of total offense and had two passes intercepted.
