Rain, Rain and More Rain
So, we trudged on. Carolynn
and I came up with a scheme whereby I would take all the readings and
she would keep her right hand dry ing the zip-lock back and take notes
for both of us. This worked up to a point. However, very soon our hands
became wet and it was impossible to dry them. Next time I go out I am
taking a towel! All our group were pretty well waterproof, but none of
us had thought to take gloves - well, it was July after all. Jane noticed
as I began to turn blue and offered me some gloves. I wondered what she
kept in that large well stuffed rucksack of hers - Obviously spare gloves
for everyone! I thanked her but declined. I was sure it couldn't get much
worse. It could and it did!
We squelched on and on, looking
at things and doing geology type stuff. We were supposed to be concentrating
on mapping today but as drawing was impossible, we ended up taking readings
and then converging on Jane who would put our readings on her map which
slowly began to dissolve in the rain. Still, we were learning the techniques.
