Breakfast on Sunday
Awoke early to the sound
of doors banging. I had forgotten how noisy student halls or residence
are. St Mary's is quite an old hall, but my bit at least is clean and
well equipped. My room is on the first floor facing south so it gets a
lot of afternoon sun and is very cheery.
I went down to breakfast
at 7:00am. I was prepared to give precedence to the S339 students, but
there didn't seem to be much of a crush. I saw people coming out of an
adjacent room clutching white paper bags filled with lumpy things so I
wandered off to discover that this was where you obtained your packed
lunch. There was a little sign saying "Only two rolls per person". There
were boxes of juice, crisps, apples and sweet bars of chocolate/cake.
Nevertheless, it didn't look a lot and I felt that here was one occasion
where being female and having a smaller appetite was beneficial. So, men
can pee behind bushes on field trips - score 1, but women don't need so
much food - score 1. Evens.
