Mastitis:

This is inflammation of the teats, which occurs in does that have had their young removed too early. The inflamed teats should be gently massaged with olive oil until the swelling subsides. Mastitis can also occur in any lactating doe and can lead to very serious consequences, including death. Antibiotic treatment may be necessary to save the doe. Kits should also be hand fed until the mastitis is under control. See your veterinarian for the cultures and sensitivity tests, which may prove necessary to determine the proper treatment.
