Salivation:

This condition is fortunately rare and one of which we know little. The victim loses its appetite and mopes, and it has a wet, salivating mouth. At the same time, the forepaws are wet and slimy as a result of the animal wiping its mouth. Sometimes a complete recovery occurs but this should be regarded as sporadic. A fault in the teeth can cause damage to the interior of the mouth. Irresponsible feeding with moldy food or grass that has been stored wet in a heap for too long can be a cause.
Although there is little proof, the disease usually starts on warm days. Rabbits do not perspire like humans. If the rabbit is enclosed in a small area, such as in a transport box, and left in the heat of the sun, it loses moisture through its nose and mouth. In a very short time the rabbit suffers from heat exhaustion. Cooling with water that is not too cold is the solution.
